OpenTAP is an open source test automation project. Open source projects rely on collaboration and trust, and OpenTAP is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy rights. We’ve explained here how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data. Specifically, this Privacy Statement describes the following subjects:

OpenTAP was launched by Keysight Technologies, Inc. (“Keysight”), and is managed by Keysight’s OpenTAP team. This Privacy Statement is specific to OpenTAP and does not cover Keysight’s privacy practices with respect to its customers’ personal data. For more information on that topic, please see Keysight’s Customer Privacy Statement.
This Privacy Statement also does not apply to the practices of third parties that we do not own or control, including but not limited to any third-party websites, services, OpenTAP plugins, applications and solutions that you elect to access through our websites.

1. Types of Personal Data We Collect
Personal information : OpenTAP collects personal information from our community members. Such information includes your name, contact information (email address, telephone number, and postal address), and company.
Account information : OpenTAP provides a forum for discussion about general items of interest, technical aspects, and ecosystem engagement. OpenTAP also provides a Package Repository where it is possible to share plugins with the OpenTAP community. If you want to sign up for an account to post content, we will ask for certain personal data, such as your username and email address. If you choose to post content in the Package Repository, we may also ask for additional information, such as your name, contact information and company. You can also choose to provide additional data for your forum account, like your location or photo.
Forum activity information : OpenTAP’s forum allows users to transmit and post communications. Your username and the information you publish will be available to OpenTAP and to the public. OpenTAP also collects data about bookmarks, likes, and links you follow in the forum.
Online usage information : OpenTAP collects and uses information from your online interactions with our website and forum. Online usage information can include IP address, browser size, type and language, referring/exit pages and URLs, number of visits to our website and the hyperlinks you visited.
Software usage information: OpenTAP may now or in the future collect personal data relating to users of the software itself. Such information may include software or device username, host name, device ID, IP address, email address associated with the software, and/or information about usage of the software or its features.
We may combine the information you provide to us through different communications and contact channels, for example by combining data collected online with information provided offline.
2. How We Collect Personal Data
Information you choose to provide : We collect personal data that you choose to provide directly to us on OpenTAP.io, on our forum, in person, on the phone or electronically. This includes, but is not limited to, (a) signing up for our mailing list; (b) submitting questions or comments to us; © creating a user account for our community forum; (d) posting content on our community forum; and (e) uploading content to our website.
Information from third parties : In addition, we may now or in the future receive personal data about you from third parties that legally acquired the information and that have the right to share it with OpenTAP. For example, we may receive contact information from a relevant trade show or event sponsor.
Information from cookies and other technologies : OpenTAP uses cookies and other technologies such as web beacons, local shared objects, local storage, e-tags, and JavaScript, to collect online usage information. Please review our Cookie Policy for more information regarding our use of these technologies and your choices about them.
Information from software : OpenTAP software may now or in the future collect software user information via an automatic data feed when connected to the internet.
3. How We Use the Personal Data We Collect
Use of personal information : We use your personal information to (a) respond to your correspondence; (b) provide you with information and updates about OpenTAP; © provide advertising or newsletters regarding OpenTAP either online or by mail; (d) invite you to, or provide information about, OpenTAP events or webinars; (e) obtain your feedback on OpenTAP; and (f) comply with our legal obligations.
Use of account information : We use your account information to provide, administer, and protect the forum and Package Repository. We also use your account information to comply with our legal obligations.
Use of forum activity information : OpenTAP shares information about your forum activity with others in the forum to foster increased collaboration and communication within the OpenTAP community.
Use of online usage information : We collect online usage information to optimize your online experience, specifically: (a) to remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the site or forum; (b) to provide custom, personalized content and information; © to provide and monitor the effectiveness of our website and forum; (d) to monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, and demographic patterns; (e) to diagnose or fix technology problems; and (f) to help you efficiently access your information after you sign in.
Use of software usage information: OpenTAP uses personal data collected from software usage for the following purposes: (a) to analyze software performance and functionality to improve the user experience; (b) to check for and provide software updates; and © to provide anonymized usage data to the OpenTAP community.
4. How We Share Your Personal Data
OpenTAP will not rent or sell your personal data to third parties. We will only share your personal data outside of OpenTAP for the reasons described below:
OpenTAP vendors: We may share your personal data with certain trusted vendors (e.g., our marketing platform, Mailchimp, or our forum software provider, Discourse). We only share personal data with these vendors to the extent necessary for the specific business partnership, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. Our vendors are required to keep this information confidential and may not use it for any purpose other than to provide services at OpenTAP’s direction.
Governance structure changes: If OpenTAP decides to make future governance structure changes (e.g., transferring management of OpenTAP to a foundation or implementing a steering committee), OpenTAP may share personal data with the new governing body. This information would only be shared for the purpose of managing and funding OpenTAP.
Legal necessity : OpenTAP may disclose your personal information: (a) if we are required to do so by law; (b) if we believe that it is necessary to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements or otherwise protect and defend the rights, property or safety of OpenTAP; or © to comply with a judicial proceeding, bankruptcy proceeding, court order or other legal obligation or government inquiry.
Your consent : OpenTAP also may disclose your personal information to any other third party with your prior consent.
We may also aggregate or otherwise strip data of all personally identifying characteristics and may share that aggregated, anonymized data with third parties, including the broader OpenTAP community. Any aggregated information shared in these contexts will not contain your personal information.
OpenTAP’s user forum allows users to transmit or post communications. Any personal information you submit there will be publicly available. That information can be read, collected or used by others, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in such public areas.
4. How We Store, Process and Protect Your Personal Data
Storage and processing of your personal data : We may transfer personal data to, and store or process personal data in, countries other than the country in which the personal data originally was collected. Those countries may not have as comprehensive data protection laws as the country from which we obtained the personal data. In such circumstances, we will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Statement. When we need to transfer data outside the European Economic Area, we ensure that adequate safeguards are in place for the protection of your personal data, including the use of Standard Contractual Clauses (“SCCs”) as defined in the E.U. Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) and as further authorized in the E.U. General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) Article 46(5).
Data Retention : We will retain your personal information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Statement, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Security : OpenTAP puts in place appropriate physical, electronic and organizational measures to safeguard and secure your data. These measures follow generally accepted industry standards both during transmission and once it is received. Unfortunately, the transmission of information over the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmission to our website or forum.
Data compromise : In the event that your personal data under our control is compromised, OpenTAP will investigate the situation and take all steps required by applicable law. This includes notification of the competent data protection authority where applicable, and when appropriate notification of those individuals whose personal data may have been compromised. OpenTAP may take other steps in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations.
5. Your Rights and Choices About Your Personal Data
You have certain rights with respect to your personal data, including: the right to information about the personal data we store about you, the right to have your personal data corrected if it is inaccurate, and the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to processing of your personal data. You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to erasure, restriction of processing, and portability of your personal data. OpenTAP will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To exercise your rights please contact support@opentap.io. We will respond to your request as soon as is reasonably practicable and in any event within 30 days. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access or enabling you to make corrections. Additional ways you may exercise choice about your personal data are outlined below.
Opting out of collection of personal information : You may, of course, decline to submit any personal information to OpenTAP, but then we may not be able to communicate with you about OpenTAP.
Opting out of collection of online usage information : Your browser or mobile device may allow you to delete and disable cookies. Note that disabling cookies may disable many of the features available through OpenTAP’s website. Please refer to our Cookie Policy for more information about any choices you may have with respect to cookies and the other technologies we may use to collect online usage information.
Opting out of OpenTAP emails : You may choose to opt out of receiving newsletters and other OpenTAP emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each email. However, please note that opting out may prevent you from receiving email messages regarding updates and improvements. We reserve the right to contact you for non-promotional purposes when we believe it is necessary, including where required by law.
Change or delete account information: You can change your forum account data at any time by visiting the profile settings page for your forum account. You can also close your forum account on the settings page. Forum administrators can also erase and anonymize forum accounts.
Change or delete forum content : You can edit, anonymize, or erase your forum posts. Forum administrators can view old versions of posts, and optionally make them visible to other forum visitors.
6. Additional Information
Other websites : We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites or services linked to or from OpenTAP’s website including the information or content contained therein. Please remember that when you use a link to go outside OpenTAP’s website, our Privacy Statement does not apply to third-party websites or services. OpenTAP is not responsible for and does not control any third parties that you authorize to access your user content. If you are using a third-party website or service (like Facebook) and you allow such a third party access to your user content, you do so at your own risk.
Community members: We are also not responsible for the actions of individual OpenTAP community members. Please keep this in mind if you choose to share personal data on the forum or if you share information directly with another OpenTAP community member.
Dispute resolution : If you have questions or concerns regarding this Privacy Statement, you should first contact support@opentap.io. You can change your forum account data at any time by visiting the profile settings page for your forum account. You can also close your forum account on the settings page. Forum administrators can also erase and anonymize forum accounts..
California Residents: If you reside in California, we are required to provide additional information about personal data that we have collected and disclosed in the last 12 months. We may have collected the categories of personal data described in Section 1 and for the purposes described in Section 1 (“What Types of Personal Data We Collect and Why”). We may have collected those categories of personal data from you and from third parties, as described in Section 2 (“How We Collect Personal Data”). While we do not sell personal data, we may have disclosed personal data for business purposes, as described in Section 4 (“How We Share Your Personal Data”).
If you reside in California, you also have certain rights with respect to your personal data, including the right to request access to specific types of personal data, the right to request deletion of your personal data, and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. For more information about how to exercise your rights, please refer to Section 6 (“Your Rights and Choices About Your Personal Data”).
7. Changes to Our Privacy Statement
This Privacy Statement is effective as of the date stated at the start of this Privacy Statement. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Statement at any time by posting the revised statement on our website and updating the date the statement was last revised. If we make material changes to our privacy practices, we will notify you by email or by means of a prominent notice on our home page.
